We are delighted to share with you the news that we have received our first supply of the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccinations. We plan to start vaccinating this week, contacting patients in the order of the priority list set by the Department of Health. Patients aged 80 years and over will be called first but we can only invite the number of patients for which we have received vaccinations. If we receive a larger supply of vaccines in the near future, we will move to running a Saturday clinic as we are keen to offer the vaccine promptly. Please click here to learn more about the priority groups and to read patient information leaflets for the vaccine. https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/covid-19-vaccination-programme-northern-ireland https://www.publichealth.hscni.net/publications/covid-19-vaccination-guide-adults
Flu Vaccinations for Patients Aged 50 to 64 years
The Department of Health has asked us to extend our flu vaccination programme to now include all patients aged 50 to 64 years who have not yet received the flu vaccination. We are sure many patients in this age group will be interested in getting the vaccination and you are welcome to contact reception directly and ask for an appointment. We will attempt to contact as many patients as we can but please share this news with friends and family who would now be eligible to get the flu vaccination. Read more about the flu vaccination here. https://www.publichealth.hscni.net/flu-vaccination-programme-202021
As our GPs are directly involved with the vaccination programme we expect this will have an impact on the availability of routine telephone calls. We have observed that the doctors can make a greater volume of calls if the length of each call is limited to 10 minutes with patients only discussing one condition during each call. We would appreciate your co-operation with this as we try to maximise access to the GPs at this busy time.
Please remember when all daily appointment slots are filled, you will be asked to call back the next day. Afternoon phone calls continue to be for medical emergencies only that cannot wait until the following day.
Patients with symptoms of Coronavirus must not attend the Health Centre but please remember you can still call 111 for advice or 119 if you have coronavirus symptoms and wish to book a test.
Dr Simpson, Dr Hutchinson & Dr Telford very much appreciate our patient’s support and understanding when changes have had to be made to our systems to respond to the pressures of managing the Coronavirus pandemic.
